Meet Amanda .png

Welcome!

Amanda’s interest in functional nutrition developed after feeling pretty let down by mainstream healthcare throughout her teens and mid 20’s. After growing exhausted of being offered prescription medications as only “solutions” to her symptoms, being told the food she eats has nothing to do with her skin or hormones, and done with 10 minute rushed appointments, she knew there had to be a better way. Upon experimenting with her own nutrition and eating habits during her undergraduate years, Amanda became fascinated with the science behind food, how it could be manipulated to improve one’s health, and how the food we eat impacts virtually every system in the human body.

She saw some HUGE changes just by changing her eating habits: she was able to finally achieve the body composition she always desired, she had more energy, and many of her hormone & digestive issues began to improve. Experiencing these remarkable changes first hand led Amanda to embark in her first professional endeavor in the nutrition world, as a Certified Health Coach.

As she began to work with clients from all walks of life, she began noticing that sometimes simple dietary changes (although extremely helpful), weren’t always enough. People who were dealing with chronic conditions like digestive symptoms, autoimmune diseases, hormone imbalances, metabolic syndrome, and more weren’t able to truly get better on just dietary & lifestyle changes alone. Throughout this process, Amanda also began to experience something similar: although she was doing everything “right” with the food she was eating and her habits, her digestive symptoms and hormone issues began creeping back in.

Deep in her core, Amanda knew she needed more knowledge: she wanted to be able to get to the root cause of why most people weren’t getting better with dietary changes alone, and she needed more tools in her kit to help people truly succeed. She also knew that she wanted to be in the nutrition field full time, and be the provider for others she wished she had on her own journey. The decision was then made: Amanda enrolled in a graduate program for Applied Clinical Nutrition that is rooted in both functional and integrative medicine, to be able to provide the quality and depth of care she is so passionate about.

Now as a Clinical Nutritionist, Amanda works with outdoor athletes and active people to get to the root cause of their low energy, digestive issues, and hormone imbalances so that they can CRUSH in their sport, as well excel in their daily lives. Consistent & steady energy levels, Improved digestion, less bloating, better bowel movements, having a better relationship with food, improved body composition, increased fertility, and (of course) improved athletic performance are all outcomes her clients experience on a daily basis while working together and beyond.

Amanda has been running her private practice, Purely Nourished LLC since early 2018, where she see’s clients individually and in groups, hosts workshops, and consults on various programs for gyms, studios, personal trainers, coaches, and other businesses. In addition to her virtual practice, Amanda currently works as a Nutritionist for other private practices and providers in Central Oregon, offering 1:1 nutrition counseling for individuals in a variety of clinical programs and settings.

Some fun personal facts: cooking, baking, and developing new recipes brings her insane amounts of joy, and she is a big ol’ FOODIE at heart! When she’s not in the kitchen, you can find her on the sharp end climbing rocks, ripping trails on her hardtail, camping in the van with her partner, Josh, or working & sipping on an almond milk matcha at a local coffee shop.
